@kenyatta2009: I remember back in the day. Nobody talked about the upcoming national elections until maybe the November before it, and even then it was low-key. Since the very late 1980s it's wall-to-wall-to-wall-to-wall talk of it.

Note it coincides with the rise of the internet and 24/7/365 television new channels.
