: There still seem to be a lot of people on social media who say they have been on social media for years and years but whose conduct says they're either lying and have never been on social media, have been on social media for some appoint of time but at best been at least 90% lurkers and rarely ever interacted (for whatever reasons) with others on whatever platform(s), or are really bad at social media (for whatever reasons).

On social medias as IRL, they get 2, maybe 3 chances, and then ❌⛔❌ .

In AOL instant messenger AIM? there was a generous RATE LIMIT on the amount of HTML that could be transmitted. So much so that script kiddies wrote all kinds of progs, apps in today's jargon. that flooded the receiving computer and just locked it up, forcing the poor guy to shut down and restart his computer. There were other things like PW crackers, etc. It was the wild west back in the 90s. Hackers

@GeneralRipper: I didn't go anywhere near AOL. I'd already been on the web for years, and it had bad news written all over it. LOL

@GeneralRipper: I used bulletin boards and gophers via dial-up... and CompuServe, too. I was one of the first wave of ICQ users in 1996.

@thedisasterautist

Yeah... sorry bout that. You get the idea from the wiki

@GeneralRipper: No worries. I got the picture. I knew about AOHell. LOL
