Oooh! A neighbor just texted and asked if I can have some fresh cut walnut logs! I said "you had me at "walnut".
Bowl in the photo is from a log the same guy gave me about this time last year. It had started to crack so I cast the whole workpiece in epoxy resin before turning the bowl. Hopefully this next batch will be more solid.

@InvaderGzim I had heard of it. Thanks though. Not sure it applies here because the cracks were filled in whe the piece was still half a log.
Now and then I drop a finished piece and the result might be a kintsugi candidate.
