Oooh! A neighbor just texted and asked if I can have some fresh cut walnut logs! I said "you had me at "walnut".
Bowl in the photo is from a log the same guy gave me about this time last year. It had started to crack so I cast the whole workpiece in epoxy resin before turning the bowl. Hopefully this next batch will be more solid.

@FighttheFluff Thanks! I had not heard of that before. I have some that is pre-mixed but doesn't tend to soak in well. I've tried Cactus Juice but it's only good for small pieces since it needs oven-curing. A built-for-purpose penetrating resin sounds like just the thing. I'll look it up. Thanks!
