I think it’s pretty clear candidate quality swung a bunch of races this cycle. The GQP need to think about whether they can attract quality candidates, not which part of the spectrum of crazy to choose. Even if they fully denounce TFG, all they have are barely viable animated corpses like Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley instead of going through the generational change that is now (belatedly) well underway in the Democratic Party.
