I ordered a wired mouse and received a wireless one by accident. I knew I was going to appreciate this enough to never go back.

Sigh.

Now I'm yet another person who has to remember to turn off their mouse at the end of the day (and will definitely forget).

@sumpnlikefaith I never bother. I only turn my mouse off if I'm packing it for travel or if I'm about to open it up.

@NoahPaulLeGies @sumpnlikefaith same here. And it's pretty rare to have to change the battery, so my guess is they either all turn themselves off, or they use so little juice that it doesn't make much difference.

If you can, switch over to rechargeable batteries & then you don't even have to worry about creating landfill material.

@rpardee Mine has a built-in LiPo battery, USB-C recharge port. It turns itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity, but comes back on once it's clicked. @sumpnlikefaith

@NoahPaulLeGies @rpardee It appears that mine does that too. That's a relief because...guess who forgot to turn off his mouse when leaving for the day...!

@sumpnlikefaith I still use a wired trackball. It's still kicking and I'm not sure my work laptop/docking station have a spare USB port for the dongle anyway.

@cmajuscula I've tried trackballs before. They're great for precision work. (Except for the tiny little ones they tried putting on laptops in the 90s.)

@sumpnlikefaith Mine also shuts itself off when not in use; I only turn it off when I am traveling with it. Mine takes 1 AA battery; one piece of advice: invest in rechargeables.

@00pi This mouse has a built-in rechargeable battery. That's a better solution for me.
