Earlier this evening, a private video was made public in which Madison Cawthorn engaged in intimate activities that he has spent his brief and mediocre and deeply embarrassing political career attempting to shame and legislate out of existence.
Maybe he was joking. Maybe he wasn't. Neither matters because his private life is his and his alone. It's his business, not ours. [1 of 5]
Whatever it was, we're not going to shame Madison Cawthorn and perpetuate the hatred and fear-mongering he and his colleagues constantly express toward LGBTQ people.
There is clearly an ongoing effort being made by Madison Cawthorn's Republican colleagues to weaponize homophobia in an attempt to end his political career in retribution for the cynical and hypocritical accusations he's made against them. [2 of 5]
@grapho in addition to the completely valid reasons you've mentioned for shaming Madison Cawthorn, I'd also like to add that he has publicly stated that he is ready and willing to kill other Americans, if he decides it has become necessary. Beyond that, it's certainly inappropriate to shame him because he might be gay or bisexual, but very appropriate to shame him for the hypocrisy of engaging in gay behavior while at the same time, advocating for discrimination against LGBTQ people.
