I'm liking this one:
"People remain friends to the extent that they fulfill each other’s expectation of the relationship.”

"The friend who desires more from the relationship doesn’t want to seem weird and needy; the friend who is more independent is likely completely unaware that the other person is feeling neglected"

Some of the stuff in this article seems pretty spot-on.

I was a bit wary of sharing it 'cos the site name is cringe af, but it's here: artofmanliness.com/people/rela

Actually, on closer inspection, a lot of the articles on there are, indeed, cringe af, but that does seem to be a good one imo

@66ALW99 That is really annoying because there is an amazing book called The Art of Manliness which is hilarious while also promoting a very healthy, non-toxic idea of manliness.

@stueytheround Cheers for that. I came across the site while looking for some stuff around friendships, so I've no idea if there's any connection with the book. I've been meaning to join my local library - done the online bit already - so maybe I can check out the book once that's all done :)

@66ALW99 I suspect they're unrelated, since the book isn't in their bookstore!

@stueytheround Yeah, that'd make sense. I really didn't check things out too closely. Long given up on being considered manly, I can't even muster up enthusiasm for football or cars 😂

@66ALW99 Ah but could you bring yourself to enjoy a really *good* shave, or to make a kite with a child?
That's where this book is at.

@stueytheround Kinda done them already :) I work with kids, I've done kitemaking with them (thoroughly recommend it btw, great fun all round, *especially* if it all goes tits up)

As for shaving, I did go through a phase. Still got the razor etc in case I get back into it. But I think I'm too practical for it - a close shave needs dedication. Life's too short. Same reason I don't iron my undercrackers :)
