I once heard a successful businessman say that wealth, beyond a certain point, is simply a way of keeping score. "I'm richer than you".
But that doesn't take into account the harm done to millions of people stepped on every day in accumulating that wealth, or the disproportionate influence granted to the hyper-rich.
@LiberalLibrarian Excellent. We need to realise that we do indeed have enough.
@LiberalLibrarian it took me till i hit 40 where i understood 'enough'.
i'd grown up poor & never wanted to be poor again. so i kept cobbling, kept looking for the next job w/ the $$. i thought i was less than when i made less than the previous job.
then i just got to a place where i had enough. where my kid would never want for food, or a roof over his head, or anything he needed.
& i didn't need anymore 'stuff'.
enough is freeing. & leaves you more time for gratitude.
