@stueytheround This looks so delicious! What's the filing?
@Fiikus_goddess Beef steak, potato, onion, and a few leftover veggies.
@wolfwoman A *proper* Cornish pasty has beef steak, potato, onion and swede (rutabaga), salt, pepper and nothing else. However a pasty can contain **whatever the hell you like** as long as you don't call it Cornish π€£ today I had some parsnip and carrot which needed using so they're in there π
@wolfwoman every uk county has its own savoury pastry and depending on the that region produced influences to this day what will be an authentic pasty.
@wolfwoman I know that 4 items were granted protected Designation of Origin status by the European Union and so Cornish Pastys, Melton Mowbray pies, Stilton and Irish Poteen have approved ingredients
@Mauve_matelot @wolfwoman @stueytheround
Melton Mowbrays are awesome.

Oh my, now I really *have* to have this!! https://cookfavor.com/melton-mowbray-pork-pie/
@Mauve_matelot @stueytheround @Fiikus_goddess
I wasn't aware of that! Also, I've had Stilton and a pasty in Cornwall so hopefully it was the real deal ;)
Would love to try the Melton Mabray but moonshine made by the Irish sounds very dangerous!
@stueytheround @Fiikus_goddess
That's what's always so funny to me when people post "authentic" recipes online. I don't think I ever had with rutabaga, although I've seen that listed before.
I had a few pasties in different places when I visited the UK in 2004 and most most had potato and turnip. π€·
Yours looks and sounds amazing.
