@jasod Essentially, it's a spiced pork meatball in a very rich gravy and it is very, very nice. The "Mr Brains" brand is the best known and I think the unfortunate name is now a bit of a joke!
@stueytheround I know the use of the word for a bundle of sticks, a book of matches, and a cigarette. This is the first time I have heard it used for a meatball.
@jasod Poor people's food. Filling, tasty, nutritious and inexpensive. Even today, that dinner for two of us cost under two pounds.
