I've transferred only a few files to the new computer. I have so many that I plan to do the others as I need them. I might keep my laptop as a backup. I don't know yet.

Once you get everything transferred, it may be worth reinstalling the OS on the laptop (a complete install, not a refresh or update, let it reformat and erase everything). I've found they work much better after a fresh install.
@snyde21 Thanks for the advice, but the laptop is barely working as it's so old. Hence the new system. I'[m hoping to get everything transferred over before it quits completely.
