Year upon year, I get reminded of how genuinely awful the Christmas season is. This time around, I have a landlord illegally raising my rent, being yelled at by some self-important lunatic every time I answer the telephone, a COVID positive result after three years of studious caution, a very painful fall in the bathroom, endless stress by coked out roommates, and there is now a visible chance that I will be going hungry by Christmas day.
And this isn’t even the worst Christmas I’ve ever had.
It took almost three years, but it finally happened. I tried my best to stay clear of it, but I tested positive for COVID this morning. Feeling a bit yucky. Coughing was worse last night but this morning it’s the nausea that is doing me.
Hopefully it doesn’t get serious. I’m told that I should get lots of rest. Sounds good.
I had to delete a pile of comments like this today from my Instagram posts. It took a while to go through and remove all of them. Backhanded comments of this nature are less common than the outright hate comments we get, but they still come in regularly enough.
This is just what it’s like to be trans online.
