@rpardee The problem started with Reagan's denigration of public service.

When I was still in college and a brainwashed evangelical son of a John Bircher, I was rejoicing when Reagan's sweep into power happened. (Something I'm ashamed of now.). My roommate literally wept at the Democratic losses, and overwhelming shift of power to the GOP.

My hope is that November 5th is the reversal of that error and that we see even the red states swept blue because of the cult and its antidemocratic stance.
