I didn't intend for my 1st post today to be a rant but I have to get this out.
I'm sitting here angry & crying because when I logged into one of the sites where i sell my photos, I saw an announcement congratulating an "artist's" sale of their photograph of a Mark Rothko painting. I checked out her shop and that's what she does. She goes into museums and photographs art and has tons of sales.
I'm struggling to get sales of my original photos but people will buy photos of other people's art. 🤬
Not that I'm aware of. My understanding is most museums' rules state photos can be taken without flash, but you're not allowed to profit from those photos.
I took photos in the Met (NY) and got the stink eye from the guard before I let them know I didn't have my flash on.
I closed up my Redbubble shop after they removed one of my exterior shots of Walt Disney Concert Hall which I took from the sidewalk, public view. This is perfectly legal & protected by

Meanwhile, if you do a search on Redbubble for Disney, you'll find plenty of shops selling magnets, tote bags, etc. with reproductions of the cartoon characters. But my original photograph was deemed to have violated Disney's rights. 😡
