So I met with Oncologist on Friday and I'm not real confident in his assessment , he started out telling me he was sending me for a biopsy and didn't know I'm 6 weeks out from having lung removed and already know it was cancer.. He spent a good 15 minutes trying to get my records about 10 tops actually talking to me and only wanted to talk about the 1 spot that led to lung coming out , not the smaller ones scattered around my remaining lung, said come back in 6 months.
@MerakiLife National standards can get chucked in the trash! 😠
@Tattoomonkey29, ❤️ I’m so sorry this doofus was unprepared and inattentive. Can you find a new oncologist?
It's draining but you can do this! 😘
@MerakiLife @see_the_sus Yeah, I'm annoyed most of all , my surgeon sent referral in December after my surgery! It's not like I just got pushed into their office !

I learned to keep a notebook and follow up with schedulers myself after 1 day of waiting. Jotted down date/their name/time of day, results of call and pushed it all forward myself. They seem to pay more attention once they realized I WAS THAT PERSON. And if we don't make sure the doctor and surgeons, etc., get feedback about who they are referring patients to, then we just become part of the problem. It's a ton of effort - just remember you are worth it!

Hey @Tattoomonkey29 how did the meeting with your surgeon go?
I know you were not impressed with the conduct of the Oncologist

Nice! Someone shared with me yet another way to advocate for yourself in the Dr. office, either you or a friend has a clipboard and is taking notes the whole time the Dr. is speaking! Also noting what time you checked in and how long it took for a Dr. to see you( it *shouldn’t* take more than 1/2 hour after your appointment time).

It’s hilarious *cough cough* how exhausting it is to find decent healthcare in order to take care of ourselves. 😒
I don't see it getting better.
After all, the sheen has been worn off our professionals in health care. It's a thankless job these days.
In my state they recently introduced a bill where wantabe docs can skip formal education and go through 3 years on-job-training by other docs. It's expected to pass!
@see_the_sus @MerakiLife I'm on it tomorrow I don't care if I have to go to Sacramento or San Francisco!
