Y’all have permission to slap me if, by TONIGHT, I don’t find the box that my winter gloves are packed in and start wearing them.
I’ve been so focused on the essentials for day to day life and now it’s freakin’ cold and my hands are frozen!

@see_the_sus Gettin' right cold down here in LC, too. I don't go out if I don't have to now.

@XaoslordErie It's not helping to have ceramic tile flooring either. I have just one large rug in the living room. I need to get one of those door draft stoppers to help. All the windows are thankfully brand new storm ones.

@see_the_sus Well, the storm windows are good news, anyway. I have ceramic tile throughout the place where I live and I couldn't walk around barefoot if I wanted to, even were it warmer outside. My neuropathic condition won't allow for that. I have a little space rug by my bedside and that's pretty much it apart from the bathroom rugs.

@XaoslordErie

I drove my parents nuts as a child because I hated wearing shoes. Still do but thanks to my knees & feet being in such bad condition, I have to wear them indoors now if I'm going to be cleaning or such for longer than 1/2 hour.

@see_the_sus It's a really bad plan for me to be without footwear at all, because I can easily injure myself and never know it or even feel it. So I kind of understand how it must be for you.

@XaoslordErie
I've heard about that. Kind of jealous in that I'd like to not feel the screaming nerve endings when my toes ram into whatever it is that I'm not paying attention to. But that alternative isn't really the best thing.

@see_the_sus I have injured myself twice because I couldn't feel my feet and was not as watchful as I should have been. And Peripheral Neuropathy affects more than just the feet, like my lower legs, my hands, my digestion (through the Vagus nerve in my stomach), and other fun stuff I wouldn't even wish on someone I hated.

@XaoslordErie Dang, that I had no idea about. I know Brother2 has neuropathy but I don't know what kind. I wonder if he has this because he has a lot of digestion as well. Well, all of us kids do which I suspect is partly genetic...like the crappy knees we inherited.
I have cousins who are just a few years older than me who had to have knee replacement surgery in their mid-40s.

@see_the_sus Wow, so there are genetic issues you're up against as well. That isn't good. One of the conditions, BTW, that can develop out of neuropathy is Gastroparesis, and that's the one that the Vagus nerve damage can cause. Gastroparesis is nasty business indeed.

@XaoslordErie It’s a hoot! 😏
Craptastic knees
Mental illness
Acid reflux (thankfully mine is mild)

I’ve had problems with my knees since I was a child. I’d be bicycling and my right knee would lock up. They’ve never had much flexibility. Then in early 2010, I was diagnosed with lymphedema in both legs. looking back at photos I believe I’ve had it my entire life but was never diagnosed, which isn’t surprising as the American medical system lags far behind other countries in treating it.

@see_the_sus

Understood. I've got genetic rubbish of my own as well:

- Bipolar II
- Type II Diabetes
- Osgood-Schlatter's, both knees (resolved once teen years passed)

Those are the major things I inherited, and of course, there's all the benign little things one usually inherits as well.
