AARRGHHhhhh!! I am so tired of having to tell the different home care nurses, (my mom has had 4 different ones in the span of 2 months), that
"She is/has been seen by a neuropsychologist."
"No, that dr. is NOT with the VA. We went with an independent dr because the VA was worthless in dealing with folks afflicted w/ dementia"
"Mom knows that no home care agency has people available to be with her at night. We would have to find an independent caregiver and that's expensive.

And trying to find someone, here in NM, is also going to be difficult. Then, let's not even talk about finding someone whom I & my brothers would feel comfortable leaving with her at night."
The thing with my mom is she just doesn't want to spend the $$ to go into assisted living, even though at this point she's going to end up burning her home down. She doesn't want to leave her home, which is close to becoming a hoarder's paradise.

She's got just enough awareness left to make some decisions and so we can't force her into a nursing home/asst living.
This situation, I know full well, is played out in far too many households in America and probably other countries. The population has been steadily growing older and older for the past 20+ yrs and governments knew that care for the elderly needed to be increased and improved but not a damn thing changed. And now look at what is happening. π€¬
