Today was our AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) inspection to see if we pass and get accredited again this year. I think it's every 5 years. What a stressful day of pretending we don't do certain things everyday that are frowned upon by the bureucrats. Like uncap needles in our mouths or keep snacks at our desks. πŸ˜‚ But hey, we passed!

@sarcasmsign After having worked at a vet hosp in my 2nd career, for seven years, I feel ya.

Congrats and now you can hang their dumb plaque in the waiting room...

@mims That's how I feel!!! We're severely understaffed and exhausted and we're like "would you miss it???" It's not like clients know what it means or that we really do anything differently. Giant waste of time and energy.

@sarcasmsign
My org goes through reaccreditation every 15 years & yeah, we totally hid a few things last time.

@Indefinite_Article We have organized containers of donated medications and we hid them all in our cars because we figured they wouldn't like that. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@sarcasmsign Lol what the old vet would allow me to do when they were busy was amazing. Completely untrained.

@Ruthat oh yeah! I know that feeling. Where I work, the techs and vet all make sure you know how to do things because it's inevitable they're gonna need help. I started as a kennel tech years ago, now I'm at the front desk, but I can still troubleshoot IV pumps, fix the in-house lab machines, hold for blood draws the way the techs like it, and give vaccines. πŸ‘
