Just heard back. No jury duty for me.

1:38pm email from the bailiff: "After considering your response and the questionnaire that was submitted, you have been excused from jury service. There is nothing further you need to do."

2:05pm email from the bailiff: "You have been selected to move on to Step 2: Jury Selection In-Person...Please report to the Jury Assembly Room..."

Talk about mixed messages! (Yes, I emailed back asking for clarification.)

I have jury duty next week. It'll be interesting to see if I get picked. It will probably depend on the prosecutor. It's a drug case, so I imagine the defense will want to get progressive-seeming people on the jury, and purple hair is a bit of a clue. 😄

Last November, following the Club Q shooting, I ordered a t-shirt from the brewing company co-founded by the combat vet who took down the shooter, with the company's motto "Diversity, it's on tap!"

I figured it would make a good xmas gift for my husband. Turns out a whole lot of people had the same idea, and they had no means of getting all these unplanned-for orders fulfilled quickly. This was understandable, so I didn't worry. Then I forgot about it.

I despise the Orwellian term "behavioral health". While it may be more honest in terms of the way many mental health providers still view their role as enforcers of conformity, it's a huge step backward for the industry and a giant red flag for me.

Hey folks, just a reminder that people get GEDs for *many* reasons: having to work to help support families, school being an unhealthy environment for them, etc. People from poorer families or marginalized communities are more likely to have GEDs instead of high school diplomas. Having a GED means they cared enough to study on their own.

Hell, one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever known has a GED.

When you use “GED” as an insult, you also hurt people who don’t deserve your scorn.

I posted a bit ago about anti-trans ads that are - according to the info provided by Google - targeted at older people. I thought it was important to let people know this is happening.

Some here seem to be more concerned with blaming me for not "confusing the algorithm" enough than with the fact that this propaganda is probably being viewed by millions of older people.

Whenever I see that garbage, it fills me with fear for my daughter. I don't give a shit about your alpha-geek nonsense.
