LOL--went to replace my failed garbage disposal this morning, and then remembered there's an allen wrench thing that came with the old one that lets you manually turn the mechanism.

10 seconds doing that and the old one coughed up a catfood can lid & started working again.

Now I have a disposal to return to Lowes...
