I just had an exciting face off with the big Doberman who never gets walked, and who bangs against the fence of his enclosure whenever we pass.

One of the kids at his house left the gate open, and he came charging straight at us.

He and my dog might have sorted it out peaceably, but he is too big to risk letting anything get started.

I kept myself between them, went into authoritarian mode, made it clear he would have to fight me first.

Fortunately, he had no stomach for that ;)
