@rpardee My dog is not that big, but I have to get in front of her and back her up rather than pick her up. It Does work as well but you have to be on every single attempt to get around your directions.

@chakaal thanks! Looking at that video I do have to wonder--that guy is a horse trainer, and the title says horse technique works on a dog. I'm struggling to imagine how to do that with a horse... ;-)
@rpardee Horses are very smart. The problem is if your horse moves toward you and you back away, you've told him he's boss. It's a big mind game, you reverse that and they'll back up when you cue them. He deals with a lot of horses with serious problems, but the principles are pressure / release, advance / retreat.
