we had aptitude testing when i was in 8th grade, to determine which kids would get to go to the new Technical high school that was opening the next fall. i outscored the entire 874 student class on Mechanical aptitude ( got 3 and 2 on Secretarial skills. lol)... so they called me into the guidance office, praised my ability, and then said "but you can't go to the tech school because the nursing program isn't ready yet" i said "what about engineering?" they said "you're a GIRL" end of discussion.
