Alexander Dugin, an extremist ideologue and former Putin advisor, has written a letter to his followers indicating (in his usual obscure language) that:
• Russian is losing in Ukraine and can't hope to win through conventional means.
• Putin had one job, to maintain Russian supremacy, and having failed at that he should be sacrificed (Dugin may mean this literally).
• There are only two solutions: (1) nuclear annihilation (which Dugin seems to shy away from); (2) ideological totalitarianism.

I don't think that Dugin is any longer an important person, on the political side anyway; but he shows how even the nuttiest right-wing extremists, who had been all in for Putin, are beginning to question their loyalty. They may not see things in quite as black-and-white a way as Dugin, but they might agree that Putin has become a liability.

@DavidSalo Is Dugin the one whose daughter was assassinated, supposedly by the Ukrainians (or, the Russians *claimed* it was Ukraine)?
