It’s good to see the younger generations harnessing the power of the internet like this. I hope they start paying attention to local politics, too. Even more local than that mayor race… it starts with things like zoning boards (determining housing development, fighting gentrification and building affordable homes), village city halls (local ordinances like helping homeless folks), and school district administrators (education reform). Then it goes up from there.

If you can flood local politics with allies, some will naturally percolate upwards, especially if the support continues. That will help fight gerrymandering, improve local voting laws, reform police, and help swing the lower courts leftward. That then snowballs into more leftward state politics and, later, federal politics.

We need a foundation. And the internet can help us build one in an instant.
