TLDR: Biden wisely took a smart lawyer's legal advice. Trump did the same, he said "I don't recall" like 90 times in one of his depositions.

Yeah any lawyer worth their pay is gonna tell Biden "if you have any fuzzy memory of any detail you're asked about, say 'I don't recall' so it can't be used against you, be forthcoming with what you do remember, but also don't set yourself up if this special prosecutor decides he works for trump instead of DOJ"...hence Biden became "a well meaning elderly man with a poor memory"...more like with a very good memory of who appointed Hur, but he can think what he likes.
