I stumbled on this fascinating documentary film on YouTube about ... Gilles De Rais.
Fascinating.
There are possible two avenues - someone was exploiting his wealth ... or he was a true serial killer.
The truth is: Nobody really knows.
@ridor9th BTW, I do think Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for Elizabeth, was robbed. She is a much stronger actress than Paltrow, and she has training (Blanchett attended the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Australia), when Paltrow clearly had none - she went to University of California at Santa Barbara to study....art history. She's a college dropout, having left to pursue acting. Hence no professional acting training. 😂😂
@ridor9th Paltrow had simply gotten too weird for even Hollywood, with her Goop products and price gouging her customers. I wish her mother (Blythe Danner) would talk sense into her.
The only reason she got into acting is because of her parents. That's it. I think Goop is far more suitable for her. And the only reason Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture is because Harvey Weinstein bullied the voters into voting for it. Saving Private Ryan definitely got robbed. /fin
@ridor9th Will check it out. That reminds me - I brought up the number of Best Picture Oscar winners to 28, after watching Shakespeare in Love and Amadeus. Have you had the opportunity to check the list I sent you and tabulate the number of Best Picture winners you have seen?
I have to agree with you on Gwyneth Paltrow. She cannot act at all - all the characters she had played are flat and devoid of emotion. Glad Hollywood finally woke up and stopped offering her film roles. /1
