@Kit Just starting, most of my co-workers are at a conference so I'm looking forward to a slow day. How's yours?

@redbarchetta3 About the same, the consultants have mostly webinars today, so my day will be slow. And none of us have email AGAIN thanks to our totally incompetent IT department so that will also make the day slower. I swear my boss might have a stroke if this keeps up.

@redbarchetta3 Before we were forced to join the network email, we always had email. Not one outage in 5 years. Since we were forced onto the network email, we have had at least 3 outages in recent memory. Seriously our IT department is the WORST. That's just one of the issues I have with them.

@redbarchetta3 The should all be fired, and the first one up should be the head of their department. I never met a woman with so little guts in my life. And lets face it, if you're going to be in IT, you need guts, and you need to be able to thing of solutions and try them. She is incapable of either one.

@Kit @redbarchetta3
And yet, I got out of IT, because I couldn't find work. Guess all the Ninnys have the IT jobs I could've been in. 😳

@Heucuva8 @redbarchetta3 Well here it's not only a state job, it's a university job, so pretty much you have to die to be replaced. That's a huge part of the problem.

@Kit @Heucuva8 ohhh... I was starting to wonder why they kept her around.

@redbarchetta3 @Heucuva8 Oh yeah, most people that work here are older than dirt. Not many places anymore where people are getting 25 and 30 year awards🙄

@Heucuva8 @redbarchetta3 I'm not knocking staying at a place for your entire career, but I think people get complacent if they're not challenged and expected to keep up with technology. And not just by watching webinars, by actually doing.

@Kit @redbarchetta3 Gotta keep your finger on the pulse of tech. It's how companies stay ahead of bad actors...

She was probably Nepotised into the job too, huh?

@Heucuva8 @redbarchetta3 No, but she started back when the most high tech stuff was that old typewriter in the storage room.

@Kit @Heucuva8 Yeah, I was just thinking i'm surprised they even use email.

@Kit @Heucuva8 yep, I used one in college. IIRC it had enough memory to hold 3 or 4 pages, which made writing 20 page papers interesting.

@redbarchetta3 @Kit I learn to type in a room full of typewriters, so I hit those later than I should have...but I remember like pepperidge farm. 😳

@redbarchetta3 @Heucuva8 You know what the two hardest innovations to have accepted have been at my center have been? A shared electronic calendar, dear lord it even has an app lol (which they love here now, and still won't adopt at our main center) And using OneNote as a base for an office manual to hold all the procedures and practices. Which they also love now, because it can be continuously updated. Simple stuff, makes life easier.

@Kit @Heucuva8 @redbarchetta3 ouch lol. Yesterday former colleagues & I were talking about being glad we retired early (hopefully) before inducing eye rolling. We had screened a film festival entry in the middle of the afternoon, so... win-win 😉

@croning @redbarchetta3 @Heucuva8 I'm sorry, no intent to be rude or uncompassionate, I'm just frustrated.

@Kit I hear ya; none taken! Just reinforced my choice 🙂
