@GWMtravels build your personal bubble! helters filter. death to other opinions. :D
@blizzn01 @GWMtravels there is a difference between someone else's opinion and someone posting on the topic you have no interest in.
for example, I'm ok talking with republicans if they are respectful. I'm not ok with my feed flooded with info about crypto. (note, I'm ok with crypto in general)
@rakshy @GWMtravels it says disagreeable accounts...
@blizzn01 @GWMtravels I can totally say that accounts focused on crypto are disagreeable accounts for me personally. cause my priorities in life are different. does not mean that I think bad about crypto topic.
bottom line - idola fori
@rakshy @GWMtravels poor choice of words. i think he means opinions not totally different topics.
@blizzn01 @GWMtravels ok, here is another. which is an opinion.
I have a PhD, I worked on immunology related projects and studied immunology pretty well. I have no need or desire to be exposed to anti-vax opinions. I read the paper they cite, I know their points, and I have no interest in listening to it again and again. nor do I want to argue with them.
so, yeah, you call it a bubble, I will call it information hygiene
@blizzn01 sooo, here we come to a consent on one critical thing - some people are ready and equipped to go down one rabbit hole, but not another. and there should be an option for that person to choose the hole they can handle, time, and the rules of interaction. only if this three things are valid there will be a dialog.
@rakshy agreed. free will is still a thing.
but if u r intersted i think that risk assesment, trust and scientific illiteracy are big factors. and if they are already in defense survival mode ease of stress is necessary until information starts sticking.
