I got into a very heated argument on Facebook with my family before I quit it.

I started to see how the cult of the right was influencing and shaping my family member’s opinions with constant memes, dog whistles, and confirmation bias on FB.

When I challenged them to question WHY they reposted content that didn’t agree with the person I knew them to be, they lashed out.

They argued I was telling them they weren’t “smart” enough to form their own opinions.

That’s when I knew we were lost.

@JKxZ I get this.

I was in the MAGA Republican bubble. Some very dedicated friends helped me eventually get out of it.

My family is still in it, and they've gotten so hateful, sometimes even towards me because I left.

It's really hard to deal with it all and I'm ashamed to say I was a part of it.

I've been posting a lot about what it's like inside the red bubble and "information prison" and the algorithms that reinforce it.

I keep trying with my family, because if I don't, who will?
