My sister just called and tried to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving:
She tried to get my parents to talk to me.
My Dad was in the background yelling at her to hang up and "stop talking to the communist traitor" and yelling loudly "stay in Germany with the rest of the Nazi's if you hate being in America so much you dumb bxxxx".
This is the man who taught me to ride a bike, ride a horse, shoot a gun, drive a car, look after my siblings, and love myself. 😞
I go home in a few weeks.
I'm scared.

I am so sorry. That is so hurtful.
Is there any way to make sure you're safe there? Take someone with you? Not stay at their house? Your safety is the first consideration, everything else comes next.
@AliceAllonym I have my own place there, and I will be spending most of my time with my sisters and slightly more open minded cousins.
I will be as safe as I can be.
I will go see my parents, but I am not going alone.
Hatred will not win.
