I am going to see my glaucoma specialist today to discuss next steps now that:
1. The surgery he wants to do was denied by insurance
2. My optic nerve is both atrophying and now bleeding
3. Insurance rejected the appeal my doc filed
4. I have had to go back on a very harsh temporary medication to hold things as best we can

@publickovacs I'm so sorry to hear about this Mel. Have you tried to ask your doctor to contact your insurance to discuss what other steps are available? It sounds like the insurance isn't really providing the coverage that you really need.

@publickovacs another thing that came to mind, try reaching out to the Lions club in your area. If I remember right, they do help cover glaucoma treatments.

@publickovacs You're welcome. They do eye testing for children too for low income families and I have my son tested a couple years ago. He's got sharp sight!

They do cover more invasive and more expensive surgeries. Now waiting to go back to see doc to see what he thinks we should do.
