Strawberries as produced in the US are all cloned. Both commercial and organic companies get their plants from same distributors.
Strawberries are so easy to grow, they thrive on pure sand!
Food production is so scary and wasteful.

My mom grew strawberries in her little patches of sand outside our home in San Francisco. The houses were built on sand dunes 2 blocks from the beach. She also grew GIANT zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, and I can't remember what else in the back yard. But, she could also resurrect dead plants, so it may have been her. πŸ˜‚

@Agatha be surprised what is possible when we experiment, yeah?

Mom was raised on a farm in Depression Era Kansas. She knew all the secrets. πŸ˜‚

Never lived til you starved
was what my Grey Ma told me often during the GD. her family came on famine ships from Ireland in 1847. She never lived there but took their lesson seriously.
My grandmother et rat when pressed.
I was never able.

Mom didn't say she ate rat, but she did remember a particularly brutal winter eating only squirrel and rabbit. Her cycle was so trashed that after marriage in 1949, she had to go on birth control to regulate things. Finally had a kid after 7 years. Took another 7 to have #2. After that she was ok and had 3 more.

@Agatha what a travail. glad she was resilient. folks dont know that kind of suffering in this country anymore.
