Wife and I watched "Forbidden Planet" on Tubi last night. It's a 1956 sci-fi film. In the first few minutes I saw the precursor, and probably the inspiration, for the Star Trek transporter beams. In a later scene, in a cavernous structure built by the Krell, there's a long walkway suspended high above a chasm. It's reminiscent of a Star Wars scene with a famous light saber duel. Some things change, some things remain the same...
