For some reason I find it apropos to watch an episode of The Handmaid's Tale on the eve of a critical US election.

@KiMira @paulcuddles haven't seen The Americans. started watching Handmaid's Tale right after the SC's Dobbs decision. It took me to a real dark place and I don't even think I finished getting through the first season. Way too real.

I read the book and saw the original movie and that was enough. Same reason I can't watch The Americans or Man in the High Tower. Too close.
@catfoodcasserole I read the book and was stoked when I found out Atwood was an advisor on the series. However, I don't consider the 2nd season on to be true to the book. The handmaid in the book was unknown to the historians that found her diary. June would have become a legend.

I've heard they changed a lot, like active protests which were just far off in the book.

Stopped watching that show when it started to feel too real. Same with The Americans.
