@Rstrahs yeh and one needs good interwebs connection which no one in Australia can afford
I noticed that the optical drive for a PS is blu-ray only whereas XB reads anything you put in it. Is that right?
@p_terg I haven't tried to put in other discs. I don't believe it will play PS1 through PS3 discs.
@Rstrahs wow. Retro to 4 only.. wonder what the thinking was behind that?!
@p_terg You can play select PS1, PSP, PS2, PS3 with Playstation Plus... not the best setup in my opinion. I have digital PS3 games that I cannot play unless I get lucky and they show up on PS Plus.
@Rstrahs Sony = MS imho. Each has their own +s and -s. Biggest drawback for PS is their selection of age-appropriate games..
@p_terg What kind of games are you looking for? Sure they have mature games but they have, in my opinion, a good selection of games for younger ages. I just don't know how many of those are exclusive to PS.
@Rstrahs Just your run o’the mill kids’ games that Nintendo are good with, and age-appropriate Star Wars/ Halo / shoot-‘em-up games. He knows who (not) to go to (Bethesda/Activision/EA) which helps us too..
Might just stick with the XB and Switch for now. If he wants a PS later down the line he can buy one himself. Happy to keep getting him games for those two consoles.. we have plenty of reputable gaming stores around and Nintendo is OK with their digital purchases..
@p_terg If you are looking at a PS4 or PS5, I would go with PS5. It can play PS4 games. Also, I would suggest the version that can play discs. I have found physical copies can be cheaper than digital copies.
