No illnesses have been linked to the products.
The FDA said it has recommended voluntary recalls of the cinnamon products, but one manufacturer, MTCI, the distributor of MK cinnamon, has not responded to the agency's correspondence.

@nursefrombirth FWIW I recommend cinnamon from Penzey's. It's affordable, potent, and they have thorough quality assurance. Not associated, just impressed.
"...Our spices are tested for heavy metals As,Cd,Hg,Pb by labs accredited ISO 17025 using ICR-MS / ICP-OES. This ensures that our products are within normal ranges and meet regulatory requirements. Heavy metals can occur naturally in soil and farmers, producers, and suppliers are all working to be as close to zero as possible."
@b4cks4w @nursefrombirth Penzey's is a very responsible company, and they have such variety!
@nursefrombirth apparently a lot of commercially sold spices are contaminated with metals. My spouse read an article suggesting that growing your own was by far the best option for many of the most commonly used herbs and spices. Including oregano and basil, which I remember because we were already growing those ourselves.
