@Jene_Sais_Quoi May I suggest you tell yourself (for that part of you that needs to rationally address the trauma) something like, “I know this isn’t logical & I can’t get my body to listen, but I can address my body in ways my body understands. I can move through this trauma energy (exercise) and later I can reengage with safe people. That’s all I have to do right now to return to safety.” (This validates what you’re already experiencing as well as make space for the other self-care.)
This is sound advice, and while I don't tend to advocate the use of drugs (and ethanol is a drug), a glass of wine & a hot bath can do wonders, as well.
Engage in activities that comfort you. I...don't think this is psychologically bad advice.

Totally agree with Jay. Not stupid at all. You’re reacting the best way you can under the circumstances you’re experiencing.
