Well, one small victory against - though they technically got banned for brigading, not spreading harmful misinformation, but still. It's a start.

Of course, that only leaves *checks notes* an uncountably large number of ivermectin-peddling, faux-conspiracy-circlejerking, disinformation-spewing subs to go 🙄

@killagator

Yeah, saw that. Also, saw the *enormous* list of subs they're using for ban evasion (a complete list is on r/SubRedditDrama).

Mostly, they're just taking over r/conspiracy & associated subs...which they'd begun doing already, so...no surprise there.

Also, they've got a whole NNN community set up alongside GA & TD (dot win), so...outside Reddit's purview. They'll surely all end up there eventually, as those sites are a sewer.

@killagator

Oh goodness I only just became aware that the ivermectin subreddit got flooded with "horse porn" and I'm alternating between LMAO & feeling sorry I didn't manage to check on it in time to see all that 🤣🤣🤣

I'm just picturing it being deluged with images of giant horse cocks and it is *killing* me 🤣🤣

Sadly, it's already locked or banned, so I can't get to it.

@killagator

Only after posting this did I realize it left me wide open to "Oh, you're jonesing to see horse c0k...?" jokes, but...whatever 🤣

Fairly positive if I wanted that, there are better places than reddit to find it 😆

@killagator

Nah, just save them for covidiot subs 😆

Kidding, kidding - not trying to encourage brigading of other SM sites here.

@killagator

BWAHAHAHAH I just glanced at some of the offsite archives & am dying laughing at the shit people were posting in the ivermectin sub.

FTR, yes, horse porn 🤣🤣🤣

@killagator

Yup. Some clever person posed some of it as a question about dosage, asking what the absorption rate would be from horse semen if they fed the horse the ivermectin before sex 🤣

IOW, the title was asking about dosage, but the actual text was...unsavory 😆

I am finding all of this waaaaay too funny, but...hey, serves 'em right for encouraging people to take horse paste 🙄🤣

@killagator

I guess the only thing that bugs me about this is I DIDN'T THINK TO DO IT FIRST, DAMMIT

I have a dirty enough mind *I* should totally have made the leap from people eating horse-paste to horse p0rn, but...well, I guess I'm slipping in my old age.

@netspionage

I like the title response.

.'Now the anti-vaxxers will leave us horses in peace."

I read some of the BS they were peddling...OMG...people just gobble this shit up don't they...."Hey, some rando on Reddit said....blah blah blah...so I need to take this horse pill instead of a vaccine"....WTF

@killagator

On a serious note...

Not only do I find it intensely disturbing people are taking veterinary-sized doses of ivermectin, but the stuff I saw (was seeing it for some time, TBH) where they were asking about dosages *for their kids* 😱😡

That's literal child abuse, and it infuriates me.

So...if mocking them is the sole recourse (as opposed to the best method of referring CPS to them), then mock away.

Castigat ridendo mores, as they say.

@killagator

I'll admit, in the *very* early days of when there was talk of hydroxychloroquine being a potential treatment, I was like, "Oh, I've still got a few bottles of that left over from overseas trips" (it has a decent shelf life); after a bit of research, I did an immediate about-face...as that was what the obvious science dictated.

However...

@killagator

...when it comes to an anthelmintic like ivermectin, the dosages one would need for it to be antiviral are super toxic; that's hardly esoteric, and not rocket science.

Do I have some medical background? Yes: years working at medical facilities, *some* college courses in medicine - not many, and mostly unrelated to infectious disease - and some basic training courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Am I a *medical expert* or an MD/RN? Absolutely not, and I defer to their expertise.

@killagator

TLDR: it doesn't take a genius to understand why ivermectin is a non-viable treatment for 🙄

Kinda wishing the general population was better educated, as if they'd paid attention in school, maybe they'd at least have better critical thinking skills, though 😡

@netspionage

I just checked my old Horse supplies that were left over from when I sold my horse last year and sure enough I have some ivermectin and a multitude of other goodies.....hmmmmm...I'll wait until they outlaw it and then black-market it to these suckers....hehe

@netspionage @killagator The problem that I've seen with all of these "treatments" is that the drugs the people are touting as panaceas for the virus while the vaccines are horrible and not to be trusted because of who makes them, are coming from the very same people who have made the vaccines. So, it's a lot of backwards logic.

If the olympics had mental gymnastics as an event... these people would be gold medalists.

@sentientdessert @killagator

Agreed, 100%.

It's an astounding level of idiocy, no argument there.

@netspionage @killagator

I had a child with autism. Hundreds of theories and treatments crossed my screen. Some of them gave me pause to consider. Others I couldn't believe anybody would try, no matter how hard they tried to convince.

So no, we did not use Lupron to stop "excess testosterone" or chelation, which "removes blood toxins" or any of the other bullshit.

But I did try nutritional supplements that fell into the category of can't hurt, might help.

Nothing wrong with investigating.

@netspionage @killagator

And this was the supplement - an essential fatty acid. Did it do anything? I don't know.

Most of his interventions were educational and therapy based. And they worked. :)

coromega.com/products/coromega

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Oh, absolutely. Of course, something like this is definitely under the "won't hurt might help" category.

Fun fact: I have been medically advised by two (2) different MDs to take what is basically that. Omega-3s et al. Just goes in with the other supplements & meds I take daily.

I can't *prove* that it brought my cholesterol down by 40 points...but something did (I have awful rxns to statins, can't take them).

@netspionage @killagator

I should look into that option again. I tried some cheap brand of fish oil maybe 5 years ago, then gave up with no significant improvement. I've been on simvistatin for years and it does nothing to keep mine down. It's hereditary, not dietary. My doctor gave up too, I think. Doesn't even bother to check my cholesterol any more! Just keeps writing the rx, which you'd think he'd at least adjust if it wasn't working, but I digress...

Not happy with side effects..

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Yeah, statin-induced myopathy is DEFINITELY a Thing. I had zero side effects (I tolerate most meds well) for the first couple of months...and things went downhill. Fast. Doctor took me off it because otherwise could have done some permanent & even life threatening damage (rare, but based on a medical diagnosis, that's where I was headed).

Another supplement I take daily is pantethine (a B5 derivative). It is also supposed to help with cholesterol.

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Yeah, was also gonna say...how can they just keep writing the scrips w/o doing the bloodwork?

I'm super NOT a fan of constant tests, however...with age comes...well, a bunch of that. For some of us, at least.

@netspionage @killagator

My doctor doesn't do annual checkups. If I ask for one, he just talks with me, instead of yearly testing like I got when I was younger. I think it has to do with the low rate of payment from my insurance - they don't like taking the hit. There is a service that comes around every few months that will do the typical testing for dif't age groups-about $150, and I am considering getting that, then consulting a nutritionist for some natural approaches with those results.

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Yeah, gonna repeat what I said: find a better MD, if you can 😬

@netspionage @killagator

I have read (but not actual journal articles) that it also can impact memory. I asked my doc and he shrugged it off, along with the muscle issues (I've gotten rather clumsy, but he shrugs that off, too). Still taking, because of a past stroke-like event that I don't want to ever have again, but I need something more effective. Probably need a better doctor, too, but I digress...haha!

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Yeah, I would *strongly* recommend finding a more attentive doctor.

@BlueStateBabe @killagator

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with investigating. Just, you clearly are possessed of the cognitive wherewithal to do so intelligently.

I have no problem with that, done reasonably & adhering to the "do no harm" dictum.. There remains much which is available outside the US, for example, and which we can sometimes benefit from. You won't hear me argue otherwise.

@netspionage @killagator

Yup - lung cancer vaccines and tuberculosis vaccines, to name two!

But I have no tolerance for medical decisions based on conspiracy theory or health decisions chosen for the approval of fellow cult members.

If I had had leftover hydroxy at the beginning, I would have researched it, too. And thereafter tossed it. 😉 Or saved for my next trip abroad, once the pandemic ends. 😀

@BlueStateBabe @netspionage @killagator

The theory regarding vaccines causing autism was just gaining traction, while my daughter was in the vaccine age range. I thought about that, long and hard. We didn’t know, yet, that she’s on the spectrum.

I decided that whatever she would be vaccinated against was a lot more dangerous.

God gave me this special Angel, in the form of the daughter I always wanted. To teach me what unconditional love really is.

It’s an ongoing, rewarding process.

@Kitty62862 @netspionage @killagator

Absolutely! And I had enough spectrumy tendencies (some say I have a few toes under the umbrella of the autism spectrum - haha) that my son's differences did not scare me. His responses made total sense to me, given his late language acquisition.

And yes, I was hit over the head with the vaxxing crap back then, but read up on the major spreader of that lie, and realized how crooked he was, and how it was all about the money.

@BlueStateBabe @netspionage @killagator

Yeah, I’m probably well under the umbrella.

My daughter had speech delays. NYC public school provided her with speech therapy. Mrs. Riolo was a magician.

My daughter has quite the assertive mouth, that she never had when she started school.

In NYC, those services are free, within the child’s school. That teacher was absolute dynamite.

@Kitty62862 @netspionage @killagator

I am so glad you had good services. With my son, he got early intervention, but we were rural and the person only showed up about once a month. Not helpful at all. I later moved to another state which had better services. Speech was included in his autism preschool. I tried to augment it, but was cost prohibitive, even when using the university's speech department lab which was a training ground for SLPs. In gradeschool, he didn't get much, either.

@BlueStateBabe @netspionage @killagator

NY is a good state for those things. Not the best, but up there.

Our problem is the teachers union fighting mainstreaming.

@Kitty62862 @netspionage @killagator

I found myself in an odd position, as a former regular ed teacher, newly special ed, and with special needs kids.

I understood both sides of that arguement. The truth is,mainstreaming works if teachers are given the proper supports. But the federal govt, while mandating services, does not fund them. It is a difficult situation.

I was glad to move and not have to play the role of employee AND mother advocating for services for her kids.

@BlueStateBabe @netspionage @killagator

My daughter’s third grade teacher whined that the paraprofessional assigned to my daughter would “undermine her authority”.

Not that it actually happened.

My daughter flourished in mainstream, with a para. The school twisted my arm until I transferred her to a “special school”. She stopped learning, and picked up bad habits from kids who were worse off.
