So is Counter Social actually less racist, white supremacist, patriarchal, anti-LGBTQIA than Twitter? Or does it simply not have as many marginalized people to be attacked? The answers are pretty obvious after just a week or so here. 2/2

Imagine being more upset that women/allies are posting their concerns than about the stripping of civil rights itself. Veteran users here seem insistent on telling new people and social justice–oriented accounts some version of “head back over to the birdshitter and wallow in it.” (To my mind, that sure sounds a lot like “Go back to Mexico.”) They discourage and shame those who express care for people in harm’s way. 1/2

Has anyone been able to sign up for a pro account in the past few days? I have been unsuccessful in three different browsers. I tuned my settings according to the pop up each time. Still no luck.

@mcfate That's not what it's for.

What it's for is helping us identify others who are coming over from the same community, so we can follow each other just like we were on Twitter.

It's not a cult of personality, silly.

No need to read into it / be unnecessarily persnickety. I know a good number of the people who're coming over saying that, so I KNOW it's just for group-identification and mutual follows LOL.

@mcfate the idea of the hashtag is to find people who you followed on the other app. Making it easier as a start and grow from there. Nothing nefarious or cult-like. ☮️
