I love CoSo and (almost) everybody in it, but that doesn't stop me from noting some really bad takes that pop up here and there; often due to frustration, and usually of the "somebody should do something!" type.

You need power to 'do something." If your strategy for (re)gaining power is "doing something" with the power you don't have, obviously it's not going to work.
