In honor of Joan Jett's bday today this is my Joan Jett story.
I met her once in the late 80's. She was opening for the Honeydrippers (remember them?).
This was during the first time I went to college. For Journalism. This is important to the story.

One of my classmates was a HUGE JJ fan. All of the Journalism students worked on the student newspaper. We did everything from writing articles, typesetting to layout and paste up.

My classmate had bought Joan Jett a Star (like the stars you look at in the sky) . He was totes in love with her and wanted to present it to her. So my classmate created fake journalism press passes for us.

We went to the concert and actually got backstage saying we were from the press and flashed our fake badges. The guy working the backstage door looked at our passes and said,"Wait right here". So we did.

Next thing we know, there is JJ meeting with us. My classmate presented her with the star and I took the pic. I'm a shitty photographer. Also, I was really nervous. Because..... JOAN JETT!!!!

She is so cool. She didn't have to come out and meet us, but she did. Just so y'all know she is very tiny. I'm short and she's shorter than me.

A couple months later, she was headlining her own tour. My classmate and I went. We had front row floor seats. She stepped on my hand. I fangirled.

It was awesome. I love her. At 65, she is still so bad ass.

And here's the pic I took all those years ago.
