when alive filled with water
when cut and dried
replaced with air

bleach the lignin
color is removed
still opaque due to
refraction differences between
honeycomb walls and air inside

remove the lignin
the glue holding
fibers together in bundles
lay out a single layer
of honeycomb fibers

fill the honeycomb fibers
with acrylic to remove air
wood is now transparent
an incredibly thin layer
stronger than glass
