@EllyOnTheGo that there is intelligent life out there somewhere, probably. that said being have or will visit us, almost surely not. I am extremely pessimistic about the possibility of FTL travel and a generation ship visit is fantastically unlikely.

It is also reasonable to suggest that intelligent life in the oldest parts of the universe might well have existed and gone extinct long before our own solar system began producing even simple life. We shall never know. 14 billion light years is a very, very long way.
