UNBELIEVABLE. #CancunCruz is determined to be a "contender" in 2024. He's sending Mrs. Ted out to boost the spirits & morale of the troops.
@jcsimonds @QueenOfEverything
He is a US citizen born to parents who were US citizens. Imagine a husband and wife go on vacation to Europe while the wife is pregnant. If the wife delivers the baby in Europe, the baby is still a US citizen; they just happen to be born abroad.
You're right, Ted's mother was American, but his father was native Cuban, AND the birth took place in Canada- that's why Ted has a Canadian citizenship.
According to the rules they're supposed to immediately report the birth to an American Embassy to "apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) can be issued as an official record of the child's claim to U.S. citizenship or nationality."
I wonder if this was actually done?
"The irony, of course, which cannot be lost on Sen. Ted Cruz, is that under the Constitution anyone born in the United States to a set of undocumented immigrants has a much clearer and more certain legal entitlement to run for president of the United States than he does.
"No wonder Cruz has railed against birthright citizenship, even though it is expressly contained in the first sentence of the 14th Amendment, a document he swore an oath of office to uphold."
Here's the source article. The debate is over "natural-born American"
@QueenOfEverything @mgulla While Ted's dad was native-born Cuban, he was granted US asylum after his student visa expired. So, both his parents are American. And therefore, he is a citizen (dual w Canada) as well.
John McCain was born in Panama at the military base. There was a brief consideration if he was "native born." It was dismissed, as would be arguments about Ted's eligibility.
But who would vote for that asshole?
@jcsimonds @QueenOfEverything @mgulla Certainly not his own child.
@JolieSaboteuse @QueenOfEverything @mgulla I have been worried about that child since 2015 when he last ran.
In 2016, I voted #BETO for Senator. ES&S voting machines. No vote party option.Hit the button for BETO- 2 secs it flipped to CRUZ! It took THREE TIMES before Beto stayed on my ballot.
No problem on ANY OTHER RACE. Reported to the Poll Lead & he said it was just a "machine malfunction" & closed the curtain for that station.
I'm not a tech, but the MACHINE wasn't malfunctioning, the CRUZ/BETO software code was suspect.
Cruz won by 219k getting 2.3%. Beto conceded.
Sorry- I would have followed up immediately, if he hadn't conceded. I WAS FURIOUS!
Anyway, this was triggered by you asking who would vote for cruz- ES&S SOFTWARE WOULD!
Still using it in Texas.
@mgulla @QueenOfEverything
Yes, thank you, I understand US citizenship just fine.
I was under the impression that his father was not a US citizen at the time of Ted's birth.
It seems I'm incorrect.
