There is evidence suggesting that certain oils, particularly those high in omega-6 fatty acids and trans fats, may contribute to health problems like inflammation, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. ITS MOSTLY THE PROCESSED OILS NOT SUGAR THAT CAUSE TYPE 2 DIABETES.
@matuzalem you've done your homework, what do you find as healthier alternatives?
@Yarnchick Not recommending it but something like animal fats (lard) are better for your health than "healthy" corn or canola oil.
Fruit oils not seed oils is what you want. i.e olive and avocado oils.
@matuzalem thanks for the heads up! I'm from the time of learning to cook when we were told canola was healthier than corn or crisco, but you've given me some good insights. I appreciate it
@Yarnchick Corn is gross too.
@matuzalem for sure! I gave that the heave-ho more than 20 years ago
@matuzalem I don't use it much, but have it on hand for high temp needs and brownie mix 🙃
I've been trying to use olive oil or butter only when necessary but will def change my back up bottle to one of the others
@Yarnchick Avocado oil is your high temp friend :D
@matuzalem thanks!
@matuzalem interesting
