Fleet footed summer
Flies south for the winter
Away like the geese
That call on the breeze
Strong winds in the night
Whistling through wires
Stripping green leaves
And fists full of berries
Down from the slender
Elder trees
A watery sun
Brings gold for the morning
Setting light to the gorse
Brightening the hearts
of ragged daisies
And I remember the beautiful chains
Binding me to the past.
