Alright folks, we're settling in. We have reports of an active shooter at this time. Incident command is setting up operations. @COSOCOM is active.

First thing is first.

#CoSoNauts at Michigan State University - You have an active shooter event at this time. Incident Command has not reported if there is a shelter in place order or evacuation order. Take cover and stand by.

Command is reporting shots fired in the basement of Phillips. #Cosonauts are advised to avoid Phillips Hall.

If you are a witness to the shooting, make your way to the museum. If you are a victim of the shooting and able to ambulate, exit the building with your hands in the air.

The first floor is held by SRT.

MSU #CoSoNauts are advised to avoid Snyder, Phillips, Eammon (Emmons) hall. If you are a student at MSU and encounter a police officer, make sure you are showing your hands. I repeat. Make sure you show your hands.

#CoSoNauts in East Lansing are also advised that if you live near the MSU campus, to shelter in place, lock your doors, and do not answer them.

Reports of shooting near the basketball courts.

Multiple reports of screaming and shooting near the basketball courts. Units en route. These reports are coming in by 9-1-1.

A unit has arrived, no shooting on scene. Could again, be "Chasing Squirrels" in the panic.

D/O Note: Anyone who calls in 9-1-1 and reports shots right now? There are plenty of PD on location, and we've heard none of them report back that shots were fired. So we need to think about it laterally.

I cannot confirm is there is a 2nd Scene at IM East. I do know there is a SWAT Bearcat responding and possibly on scene there.

2130EST SitRep -

There has been an active shooter at Michigan State University. Exact number of victims is unknown at this time. At least 5 victims have been reported at this time.

SWAT has responded and is currently sweeping the buildings of various halls.

PD Reporting 1 suspect.

There is also the possibility of a 2nd scene at IM East, approximately 1 mile from the previous scene. PD is currently on scene securing the 2nd scene.

SUSPECT IS NOT IN CUSTODY.

Michigan State Police Air Unit is overhead and clearing the area as well. Checking the woodline for reports of a suspect. There's going to be a lot of it. I call it "Chasing Squirrels"

Poss Shots fired at Hubbard. PD On location reporting a "Gunsmoke or firework" smell from the area.

Listening to radio traffic, several dorm halls are sheltering in place, with armed PD guarding them.

Other dorm halls are being cleared by SRT & SWAT Units.

Take it slow, gang. I'm going to repeat this. You're hearing that people are calling in 9-1-1 that there are shots being fired. There are SO MANY police on site, that we'd be hearing cops absolutely screaming on radio that shots were being fired.

So just take it slow, logical, and as it comes. We're going to get inundated and it's our job to decipher what is real and what is the result of general panic.
