Mad respect for the workers who do a great job in nearly any weather up there. Temperatures were literally through the roof on Wednesday and Thursday so I got ice cream for everyone in addition to keeping them stocked up on cool drinks. Special commendation to the company owner who works on the site most days, and rushed here from his office just before a thunderstorm hit earlier this week to help seal in the windows and ensure his employees got off the metal scaffolding in time.
Roof update: Insulation and nearly all of the new roof tiles in place on both sides, three of the four windows on the north side put in, new gutters installed in the front and back of the house.
Plan for next week: Install the fourth window on the north side and the photovoltaic panels on the south side of the roof, move scaffolding to porch so the roof there can be done as well.
Our roof is getting done at last! Horizontal beams set higher, old insulation, tiles and tile beams removed, new insulation and tile support beams put in. The windows will be put in next week, followed by the new tiles and the PV modules. It‘s already warmer in the morning and cooler in the midday heat thanks to the new insulation. 🥰

It’s really hard to drop the cynicism and skepticism that is necessary and even rewarded in other places.
Some folks arriving here might be hopeful but that is perhaps shielded by wariness.
New folks? Give yourself time to take in the differences of the CoSo platform and community. It has taken some new arrivals a long time to settle.
And long-timers please remember what the journey here was like. Old attitudes are hard to shift.
